The Storm
It comes without any justification, to utter you much devastation
It is much like a thief in the night, to stomp out your glimmer of light.
It comes without warning or alarm, to do nothing but bring you harm
It comes to greet you ready or not, to act out its fiendish plot.
The storm came in a great big wave; you survived it because you were brave.
The storm caused you much pain; you fought against it because you had much to gain.
The storm came at the wrong time in your life; you fought hard to lessen its strife.
The storm did deliver you some damage, but because you were strong you were able to manage.
The night has fallen and morning has come.
The storm is over and I can see the light.
Next time is comes, I will be ready for the fight.

My Journey
Today I have reached a milestone in my life. I have more years behind me that I may have before me. I do not know what God has in store for me but I know that being able to see forty years is a huge deal. We all can look back and say that we might have a lost a son, a daughter, a mother, a father, a sister or a brother or another. Some of us have reached forty and some of us have yet to get there. If you have crossed this bridge before me than you are truly blessed and if you have not I hope you have the chance to experience this rite of passage.
In my forty years I have experienced great pain and great joy. Great sorrow and great happiness. Great weakness and great strength. I bear many scars both inner and outer during my forty years. I thank God today for allowing me to see forty. My high school yearbook bears this quote that I believe has been a testament on how I lived through failures and through triumphs “Life is something to cherish not to waste, so take every opportunity to succeed and make it great.” Despite it all I still stand tall and my wounds have healed. I look back over my life without any regrets. I would not change the road that I have traveled, because when my road lead me the wrong way I had the strength and conviction to know when to travel another way. I did not settle for mediocrity I pushed on to achieve greatness.
I still have more chapters in my book of life to write. I still have more experiences to encounter. My hope is that through it all I have learned and grown through love, hope and faith. Through my walk I have learned how to be a better a mother, a wife, and more importantly a better person.
I want to thank all my Facebook friends both new and old. I want to thank all my family members who I have reacquainted with. I want to thank all the new family members I have had the esteemed pleasure of getting to know. I want to thank each and every one of you for being a part of my life story and ask that you continue on my journey whether long or short as I strive to continue on the make my mark in this great wo

The Plane
During the course of being in business. I have had the opportunity to attend numerous networking events and seminars. I am like a sponge, I love going to these events because I also learn something very useful from them.
A few years ago I attended one seminar that has stuck with me to this very day. At this particular event, the speaker was talking about how an plane can help you to organize your life. As I sat there I thought how in the heck can an airplane help to organize my life. The speaker captivated my mind and had definitely commanded my attention.
She began speak about how a plane has First Class, Coach and Stand By. As she said these word she asked the audience to repeat them, so I did, First Class, Coach and Stand By. For those who have had the opportunity to travel in First Class, as I could only imagine, you are supposedly given the royal treatment. I would imagine that you get more than just peanuts, a glass of wine and maybe even a nice meal. In Coach you get those little bags of peanuts or pretzels and maybe a cup of soda. (Mind you this seminar was before the recession, so think of the good old days). As for Stand By you are waiting to get on the plane, so you get your own refreshments.
As she continued she began to explain how each classification pertained to the people in your life. In First Class you put people who are always there for you no matter what. The people you can call on and they are there in a hurry. The people who would give you the royal treatment much like you would get if you were to fly in first class. Secondly, your people in Coach are the ones who are there for you some of the time. These are the ones you can call on but you gotta basically call on them more than once before they move on your because. They are like those little bags of peanuts and pretzels, only there for a little while. Finally, the people in Stand By are those are on the receiving end and not the giving end. You could not count on then if your life depended upon it. After hearing this is was in total AWE. I said that I needed to recognize my plane.
On that very day, I decided that the my First Class people would have my full undivided attention, I would move mountains and mole hills for them as they would for me. I would primarily deal with my First Class folks because they had my best interest at hand. My Coach people would be kept at bay. I would continue to have them as a part of my life but would never count on them for anything, nor ask them for anything. Finally, my Stand By people, they would not be allowed to board my plane.
Take a look at the people in your life. How will you arrange them on your plane of life?

Dreams
I don't know if many of you know that I run several different business ventures. Well before I decided to go into business for myself I had a successful career for approximately 15 years as a Paralegal and then as a Financial Analyst/Training Coordinator. After completing my education and hitting several roadblocks in the the company that I was working in, because I would not sacrifice myself just to earn a TITLE. I got frustrated with the corporate backstabbing. If I could not get a promotion based on my merits and contributions as suppose to me knowing this person and rubbing up this person then to hell with it. So I decided to step out on FAITH and start my business. The road has not been easy, as with life. But each day that I get up I am happy that I am living a dream that God has had his hands on. I could not face the day to day challenges of being in business with God's help. I am doing something that some people do not have to courage to do. It is much bigger than being a business owner, that is not the focus, it is merely believing in a dream and letting God guide you through your dream. Everyday I thank God for the good days and the especially the bad days. When I leave this world I can say that I took a CHANCE. I belived in myself like God believes in me. Even if I fail or better yet I succeed, I have a left a legacy to my children that I stepped out on faith took a chance and am living my DREAM.
How do you plan to fulfill your dream and if there are roadblocks in your way, what are they?
